One-X Preferred on iPhone 5

Hey,

I must be doing something wrong but I can't seem to set/change the number for my location with an iPhone.
On Android it works as described in the Manual: long-press the icon. On an iPhone 4S this opens the location list and not the wizard.
Anyone else know how to set the correct number?

Setting your location
Before you place a call, specify the phone number at which the one-X Mobile application can locate you. If you try to place a call and have not set your location, a wizard displays to guide you through the procedure.

About this task
You can use the location icon in the Status bar to set your location.

Procedure

[li]In the Status bar, press the location icon to open a menu.[/li]
[li]Select one of the following locations from the menu:[/li]
[ul]
[li]Cell: the default setting is the phone number of the mobile device on which the one-X Mobile is installed. You can change this number if needed.[/li]
[li]Work: this number is set by your system administrator and is not configurable.[/li]
[li]Home[/li]
[li]Custom[/li]
[/ul]
After you select a location, an icon for that location displays in the Status bar.
[li]If you wish to change the phone number for the selected location, long-press the icon in the Status bar. A menu displays.[/li]
[li]Select Set phone number.[/li]
[li]Press the text field to display a keyboard and enter the phone number.[/li]
[li]When you have finished entering the phone number, press OK.[/li]
[/ol]

 
Ok, nevermind
Found the answer on the knowledgebase.
It's only possible with the Android client...
 
The iPhone is not as flexible as the Android version.
In my eyes the iPhone version is not really a add on.

You need to set it thru the 1XP client, fill in the Mobile/Home phone number.
Or use the Custom for your mobile.

That is NOT true. Simply swipe the bar that holds the Status/GPS/Connected icon to the left and it will reveal the other icons.

Kyle, that part is true but he want´s to set his mobile phone number from the phone.
That part is Android only.
For the iPhone you need to set it from 1XP itself.

Ahh yes. You do indeed need to set the number from the web interface.

***FACEPALM***

I've gone as far as to open a ticket with Avaya and talked it through to Tier-4 and Mr. Holladay served me up a piece of humble pie!

Who'd ever thought to slide the bar....it's not like there's an arrow or anything else to suggest more options on that damn bar. The first view isn't even "full" so never thought to try that. Thanks for ended about a 6 month nagging from our sales dept on this feature.

The Status bar:
The Status bar is available on all screens in the one-X Mobile interface. It contains information
about your availability, and provides controls for opening a dialpad, setting your location, and
enabling or disabling GPS location information. The Status bar also indicates the status of your
connection to the IP Office server.
You can swipe the status bar to view all of the icons. The graphic below shoes the layout of
the application on an Apple device.

I am working on training videos for both iOS and Android versions of the one-X Mobile Preferred app and not being an "Android Person" have found the following.

iOS is very swipe gesture oriented where Android seems to prefer clicking.

That being said you can set the "Custom" number on iOS which lets you enter any number you want to be used as your current location.

Hey Kyle. Do you find that the IPhone app is a heavy drain on the battery?
Since you apparently use Mobility preferred and IPhone I suppose you would be a great judge on normal battery use for the app.

 
HI All

I have a demo kit IP Office 500v2 R8 with an ISDN2 set to it. I have the user setup with one-x portal services and an iphone with the One-X Mobile Preferred IPO. I have the app logged in and can send received messages and I can make my desk phone instigate a call via my mobile but I can not get the mobile app to answer calls or make calls directly. Is this app capable of making and recieveing calls via the app. If any one has any details on how to go about setting this up correctly. I have read about FNE but I take this is only needed for the One-x Mobile lite, or do you also require this for the preferred app as well...I look forward to the replies
 
Well I can now say I have the one-x mobile working in a manner. I can call via the mobile app to an internal ext, the phone system returns a call to my mobile which I then answer which then in turn starts the ext I have attempted rings and horray; but heres the snag, the call on my mobile disconnects the one-x mobile app and the call is established as a mobile call which I would expect. But surely the one-x mobile app should not disconnect. I have so far learnt that mobile network providers do not allow for data and voice to work at the same time. Though I have tested that once my call is established that I can go back into the app and it does eventually reconnect to the one-x portal service. I have yet to test IM and Conferencing, but I am thinking that this will be very very limited...

So has any one else experienced this so far if so have you been able to get further where one-x does not disconnect and that IM and conferencing are possible.

I noticed the same thing at one of my clients and figured this is the way it works, as long as it works.
