hey all,
has anybody been able to setup the Google Talk XMPP in the One x server? It seems pretty basic but i'm not sure what address or domain name to add to the XMPP in the one x server.

You do not need to add anything except for the port that allows external xmpp.
I also added my google talk account to my own 1XP settings.

tlpeter,
Thanks for the response, so i dont need to add anything but the external port? currently in my one x I have port number 5269 set under IM/Presence but it is greyed out and i cannot change it. do you know what port to use?

You need to be sure that port 5222 is forwarded to the 1XP server from the outside and the option to use external something is checked.
The port 5269 is correct.

tlpeter,
when your refering to the "external something, do you mean in the firewall when you open up port 5222? also I have our LAN2 port outside the firewall for one x portal access from the internet.

I was wrong, this is what you need to do:

Code:
Configuring IM/Presence Fedration with Google Talk

As an administration, you can configure one-X Portal for IP Office to federate with Google Talk and establish chat communication between Google Talk and one-X Portal for IP Office contact. To ensure that one-X Portal for IP Office is federated with Google Talk, set the following configurations:1. Open the port 5269 to enable one-X Portal for IP Office federation with Google Talk server.
2. Set the fully qualified domain name of the Google Talk server.
3. Ensure that the Google Talk server is accessible to one-X Portal for IP Office for communication.

tlpeter,
I seen that doc in the setup proceedures as well. ive tryed just about everything but one thing i cant seems to find isd what XMPP domain name to use. do you remember waht you used on you one x servers?

I only used my own google talk settings as a alternate IM ID which you can setup under "IM/presence configuration" when you go to the configure part.
This is all under your own login as a user.

I know this is an old thread but I have a simple question

When you were federated with Google what features did you get for example?
When you were on the phone is you presence information passed to the Gmail client i.e. does it show you as busy or in a call?

I have a customer running Google apps and we are trying to identify what features they would get if any when they federate with Google.

Thanks

[cheers]

I am not sure as i hardly use it (google talk)
So you are the one to test it :)
I do see the status of google talk in 1XP but the otherway round i don't somehow.

From my testing at this point it seems like the "Gmail Id" option when adding people to the personal directory that it will only accept a 'gmail.com' address. That would seem to be a problem for Google Apps users and others.

Does anyone know a way around this? I'm still doing further testing to see what does and does not work on the federated presence.

On my testing, i get federation both ways. 1xp can set presence, and Google see that, as well as off hook status.
Also, the Googletalk presence can be seen by 1xp.

Peter, i did run into issues where it would federate only 1 way. I deleted and re-added the entries, and all seems to be going well.

does anybody know why my Admin account doesnt show the IM/presence tab under the configuration options???

Should it be there on the version you use?

the admin guide is 8.1 and my ipoffice is 6.1

it's strange because in the same guide, there are many pages that shows the IM/presence tab and some that doens't show.

it's like we have to enable somenthing. [sad]

What about using the install guide for 6.1???

the admin guide 6.1 doesnt' show anything about IM/Presence, that's why I didnt use it.

but I didn't find any documentation saying this feature is new for the 8.x versions.

I have just figured it out ;)

guess I will try it in a 8.x ipoffice.

telecomtekperson, could you provide more details of what you set up .

If i undersatnd correctly, when you change your status on the onxp, you google tals account change also the status.

So you just provide you google talk account to your friends, and they can see your onexp status ?M i right ?

Thx

Karlzre, not really, but kind of.

What you provide the google talk user is your username@xmpp.fqdn.com (or whatever your xmpp domain is), and they can see your status and chat to you, and vice versa. Add their contact information with username@gmail.com, and you can see their status and chat to them.
