What is the difference between the traditional One-X Agent vs the Agent for Desktop ?

Agent for Desktop also supports VDI. One-x agent does not.

AAfD still supports H.323.

The look and feel is different a bit.
AAfD can be locked down more so users can't fuss with configurations
Like said, AAfD supports VDI
Development continues for AAfD

Another question. Anyone using AAfD in production yet? I only have it in the lab so far.

Yes, my company is. OneX is now completely out of our call center environment. It's all AAfD.

We use AAfD at multiple sites. In the process of switching from h323 to SIP for all users.

AAfD is not the going forward product. You may want to look at Avaya Workplace Agent.
