Hi

We have one user who cannot log onto our Citrix MF1.8 server - when logging in, the server returns a 'Citrix has reached its licensed logon limit' message.

We are not short of licenses, and the client is XP so the MSLicensing registry fix does not apply (I have however removed the MSLicensing key and let it re-create but this did not succeed).

The server event log returns event id 26 (server reached license logo limit) and 1000 (could not acquire license for <user> on <server>) each time the user attempts to log in from the XP client - the problem exists only with this particular client.

I have browsed arount for an answer but cannot see any solution that works for me - can anyone help?

Have you tried killing the registry license store information on the client so that a new one is forced into place?

Hi lb63640

I have deleted the reg key

HKLM\Softwae\Microsoft\MSLicensing

An attempted to log in again, but with no success - is this the 'registry license store information' you referred to?

Yep, that would be the one. That was our fix when we had a similar situation.

Hi lb63640

No joy I'm afraid - removing this key doesn't resolve the problem.

Is there anything else I can do? Do you think re-installing the O/S would help? If I can avoid this I would prefer to, but if it works...

Sounds like a Citrix license issue rather than a Microsoft license. Check Citrix Licensing from the ICA bar, licenses in 1.8 were assigned by server, product, and user connection to an individual server.

Hi oisnds

I have checked the Citrix licensing, ad we have 55 licenses in total, all of which are pooled.

I have checked to make sure that at the time of login failure, all licenses are not in use.

Is there anything else I'm missing here?

Your help is much appreciated.

I also had this problem and the error was the connection to the data store. Maybe check in the event logs for any errors relating to connection to the data store.

We also had to restart the IMA service to get the connection back.

Hi John,

Also forgot to mention, check that you dont have any time sync problems. That was another issue that was related to that.
Make sure that it is sync'ing with the correct DC.

Next guess, I have seen some problems with the client version being too new. Try a different Citrix client version, if you are using multiple verisons in the field try the one from another PC that works.

Solution I have tried that works is to create a custom ICA connection specifically to the TS licensing server knowing that it will not work as we have turned on using only published applications in the farm. But the client computer tries to establish the ICA connection anyway and fails. In the process, the TS license is validated or established if necessary. Try normal connection again.
