Hiya,
Hope somebody can help with this, which has me stumped.
We use Exchange2003 and Outllok 2003.
One of my users returned from holiday to discover he can no longer see one specific public folder. He doesn't get 'access denied' or anything like that, it simply isn't there in the list when he opens outlook. All other users report no problem with this folder.

He normally uses a laptop, with cached mail. I got him to log onto a new PC that he had never logged onto before, set up Outlook, and the folder is still missing. I've also tried the /cleanviews switch, but no luck there either.

When I give another user perms on the mailbox, they can see the 'missing' public folder OK.

What's going on? I don't think it's a corruption issue on the laptop, as the user gets the same result logging onto a PC in non-cached mode.

Any ideas where to look/troubleshoot next please?

Tahnks in advance

Hiya,

Anybody got any ideas on this one? I haven't come up with anything :(
My plan is to do a defrag on the public folders this weekend, and run isinteg. Something might come out from that.
Failing that, we'll be deleting/recreating the user account next monday.
Thanks in advance to any bright sparks!

If it is for one user that is a very strange issue. Can see your logic in thinking that it is an outlook/PC fault.

I would suggest that maybe instead of deleting the user just create a new PF and move the content. it will take you less time than setting the user up again.

Also try and get away from Public Folders, take it from someone who had an absolute nightmare when it came to rebuilding an exchange environment. Or if you are set on using them make sure that users don't have free reign to use it as a dumping ground.

Let me google that for you!

Hi GJB2011,

Thanks for the idea. It might just come in the nick of time. I was preparing myself to bite the bullet, and recreate the user account, which would be a real pain. I'll give your tip a go.

Yes, I agree public folders are just trouble!!!

Cheers
