One Time Error

Our system runs on SCO OPenserver 5.0.5. Suddenly one day it gave the following error:-

System Error:- Login:Error-Failed to initialize Policy manager (IFOR_PM_FATAL) the status from the Policy manager daemon (PMD- /etc/ifor_PMD)indicates that a serious error condition has occured.LOgin is allowed,but the system administrator is strongly advised to consult the SCO online support solutions Library (SSL) for assistance; if the SSL is inaccessible,please contact your SCO support Representative.

After that the server was rebooted.Now there is no error. What could be the problem? Any body having idea?

Hi Rakesh,

I am pretty sure this is a Compaq Server. Try to shutdown the server. Power it off for a minute and restart the server.

Hi Driftwood,

This is Acer server.The error appeared once only and after reboot did not appear again.But why did it appear? Does this indicate any serious malfunction of hardware?
