Hi,
I am trying to make a report that has is two columns. It is a list of names and addresses, so it is pointless to waste space only using one column - it is so much more efficient to use two columns. Now - I know how to set up two columns (I think). I went to Page Setup and went to the columns tab and made two columns and the report looks perfect - it is exactly how I want it. EXCEPT: I want the Form header to span the whole page (take up both columns).
Like This:
[tt]
|---------------------------|
|HEADER WILL GO ALL THE WAY | <-Header
|---------------------------|
|Column1 Column2 |
|Entry1 Entry2 | <-Body
|Entry3 Entry4 |
|etc. etc. |
...
[/tt]
Does that make sense? Does anyone know if this is possible? I tried making a report with 2 columns, and save it. Then I tried making a new report with 1 column and bringing in the first report as a subreport, and it keeps it at one column. I'm kind of stumped... Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Brian

Yes. Put your header in the PAGE HEADER and on the toolbar, click on FILE, PAGE SETUP. Click on the COLUMNS tab and enter the # of columns you want. Set your COLUMN SIZE and LAYOUT.

When you're done, you'll have your header over all columns.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jim,

But when I try to make my Page Header wider, it makes my Details section wider also, so that even if I specify in Page Setup that I want 2 columns, it will still only let me have one column, because the width of the detail section is to big...

Am I doing something wrong?

Changing the width of any report element will change the width of all other report sections. I don't think that's your problem, however.

PAGE HEADER
SOME FORM OF TEXT THAT IS AS WIDE AS THE PAGE

DETAIL

FIELD_1 FIELD_2

PAGE FOOTER

DATE()

If you play with the COLUMN SIZE and possibly un-check "Same as Detail", and if you have enough records to make your columns fill to the 2nd column, your resulting report should be:

SOME FORM OF TEXT THAT IS AS WIDE AS THE PAGE

FIELD_1 FIELD_2 FIELD_1 FIELD_2
FIELD_1 FIELD_2 FIELD_1 FIELD_2
FIELD_1 FIELD_2
FIELD_1 FIELD_2
FIELD_1 FIELD_2

Sounds like you're on the right track.

Ahhh- I didn't see that "Same as detail" checkbox.

Thank you very much!

It works perfectly!

You're welcome! Have a good weekend.
