I am setting up a system using a Gigabyte KT400 board with onboard RAID controller. I have 2 WD800 drives connected to IDE 3/4 (the RAID Connectors). I have used the Promise cards in the past, so figured I could handle the setup, but...

When I boot the system, I get a message from the Promise BIOS saying it has detected the drives on D0 and D2. At this point, based on the documentation and past experience, I would expect to see a prompt to press Ctrl-F for the FastBuild utility to configure my drive array. Instead it just continues the boot process. I can boot from a CD but I can't install an OS because without an array defined, it won't see a drive to install to.

Anyone know how I can get to the utility to build my drive array? The onboard RAID is enabled in the MB BIOS.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you tried changing the boot order in the bios so that it boots to the raid card first?

I did try changing the boot order. That didn't help, but I found another BIOS setting that I had missed earlier. I had to switch the mode of the onboard RAID from ATA to RAID. Once I did that, it all worked as I expected. It would have been helpful if they had mentioned this little detail in the docs, esp since ATA was the default setting, but so it goes...

Thanks for the response.
