Hi:
I own a Pavilion 520c witch has a on board (built in) ethernet connection. I like to remove this function for now because I'm using a modem and like to speed up my startup time when I load up my computer. It always loads my ethernet before anything else. I have disabled it but it still starts up as before. Very slow.

Then perhaps it isnt your ethernet? Do you see the ethernet load during startup anymore?

SuperGeek,

If your NIC is set to obtain an IP automatically, change to a set IP and give it a bogus address like 10.10.10.10. This will prevent DHCP from taking the time to look for a server and get an address. It waits until the request times out.

What OS are you running? You could remove the device from your hardware profile or Device Manager, also.

Hope that helps. [yinyang] What goes around - comes around. [wink]
