On IBM Aptiva after win98 upgrade from win95, cannot get pci network c 1

On IBM Aptiva, after win98 upgrade over win95, pci network card will not work. Have no problem loading drivers, tc\ip protocol installed. I've tried un-install and re-install, still same problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Is this the same card you used on the Win 95 set-up? I have a couple of old NIC cards that work fine on 95, but won't work on 98. Check the manufacturer's web site for Win 98 drivers, or try a card that is made for Win 98.

card was working before, upgrade, re-install, works fine on other pc in network running win98se. also have older win95 compatible network card, loads drivers , protocol, its installed will not work. pci irq steering problem?, maybe?

98 is a little picky on IRQ's, try the NIC card in a different slot. You may have to pull all un-needed cards, put the NIC card in, get that working, and insert the other cards one-by-one to let 98 sort the IRQ'a out.
