I have an older Fox Pro for DOS application that works on Win 7 32 bit but wont on 64 bit is there a way to make this work other than installing the 32 bit version?
Win7 64bit has the exact (precisely exact) 32bit subsystem that also is Win7 32bit with the 32bit system dlls being in SysWow64.
So what is not working?
What's the error you get when you start the DOS app?
And did you perhaps install something like TameDos on the other Windows 7 32 bit pc?
The error is:
"The program or feature e:\wwterm\foxprox.exe cannot start or run due to incompatability with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatable version is available."
I have tried it with foxprox.exe and just foxpro.exe as well.
Well, as the discussion went in the other thread even configuring 32bit xp mode didn't solve it. You may try anyway and turn both foxprox.exe and foxpro.exe and your own exe this way.
But this is a dos app, and win7 is not dos.
Try running C:\Windows\SysWow64\cmd.exe and then start your app from that 32bit command prompt.
With any Win7 edition you can install XP mode to make apps run on a virtual XP machine.
XP mode itself differs from a virtual PC with XP as it seamlessly integrates into win7, but you have to download and install it, from where I showed you:
