Old WP docs with password (mine) conversion to Word? 1

I could spit. I have some old files done on WP6 that I password protected. Of course I know the password, but I no longer have Word Perfect as all (though it is, or was, a far superior product than its MS counterpart).

Does anyone have any idea how I might import a now-non convertable file to Word. I think I've tried just about everything. Does anyone know how I can get the password command out of there without finding someone with WP. Much appreciate any help with this.

You can get a conversion utility from Corel that will allow you to convert the files to a Microsoft Word 97 format. Go to the following link

and download the WP_CONVERT_UTILITY.EXE and install it. It will create a directory called C:\PROGRAM FILES\COREL CONVERT. There will be an executable file called CVWIN80.EXE that you will run in order to convert your files. In the From box select your WordPerfect file to be converted. In the To box key in a path and filename to save to, something different than the original name, and select MS Word for Windows 97 as the Type. Tell it to convert. You may be prompted for the password from the original file a couple of times. When it has finished converting the file, you will have a Microsoft Word 97 file with no password on it.
