My SMS database is just growing and growing... It still contains machines that have been off the network for over 2 months now. Ive checked the WINS servers and the old computers have removed themselves. Any ideas how I can force the database for purge itself and remove clients no longer listed ? By Default how long do clients remain in the database before being removed ?

I think records will be left in the SMS database for 90 days...

1)Go into Site Settings on the primary site server for SMS. (Under Site Hierarchy)

2)You will see DATABASE MAINTENANCE under Site Settings. Expand this.

3)You can modify the default deletion times here. Look at the items starting with DELETE (IE: Delete AGED collected files, Delete aged dicovered data...etc)

I hope this helps.. Joseph L. Poandl

If you have DHCP Discovery enabled, make sure the machines that are off your network are also out of DHCP.
