I have a slave drive that has 5 gigs that are NOT accessible. I tried Formatting and I get an error (both slow and quick format). During a system virus scan, I noticed that it was checking that drive and there were 5 gigs of Recycler files on it. How can I regain that space?

Thanks!

What is the exact text of the error message when trying to format?

Did you delete the partition, create new one and then try formatting? Is there just one partition on the drive? What filestore type?

it says system. It originally was my boot drive...2 or 3 reformats ago.

I will try your suggestion.

Thanks

Another way would be to download the hard drive diagnostics utilities and use the feature that writes zeroes to the hard drive. I do this whenever i have a problem with a hard drive and i do it with all fresh os installs. It basically restores the drive to the condition it was when it left the factory except it has the wear and tear on it. Also, i have read the zero write program is good for erasing any virus that gets into the master boot record of a hard drive. I just know it works well for me. Of course you will have to take any data you want off that drive before you do this as you will have to reformat it again.
