Macola 705.102e, Pervasive
This is a general post on making old Macola work under windows 7. It is not meant as a tutorial, but as a general outline of what worked for me.
Windows 7 Professional 64:
Download and install XP mode and Windows Virtual PC. It is a 2 or 3 step process depending on your computer's processor.
This took a few minutes, but installed without error.
Windows XP mode, Tools, Settings, Networking, I had to change the Network adapter from shared to the physical adapter.
From there, it was just map the network drive, install macola and everything worked pretty much the first time.
I also installed Crystal on the virtual machine.
Win 7 will put short cuts to each XP app on the start menu, but I found this not helpful. Win 7 wants to restart the virtual machine every time I start a different XP app. However, if I just run XP Mode and leave the virtual machine desktop open, I can switch back and forth easily.
Summary: Old Macola is not supported under win 7, but it is not difficult to get it to run.
