Anyone having experience with old GJUL4 (ROF 131 4246/1 R5A) in BC11 system?
System is upgraded from BC7 to BC11, but it has a lot of problems in LIM-LIM communication. (it is 2-LIM system).
Magazines are LBP9/LBP8.
Should I avoid filter boards CCU and connect GJUL boards directly, board to board?
Should I replace GJUL4 with new generation of boards (ROF 137 5393/1)?
Any opinion is welcome...

The board U are using is has approval for BC11 so there shouldn´t be any problems. Are the 2 LIM at the same adress or do U have a leased line between them. Often problems like these is caused by the leased line quality.

Hi NANSI,
Thanks for response to my question.
Both LIMs are in same room, no leased line between.
What is your opinion about filter boards CCU, should I bypass them?

while Upgrade do you initiated ILLAI command? If yes then you need to reinstall back and make sure no ILLAI command.

Hi Ysgoh,
Yes, there was ILLAI command in LIM disposition table.
(2LIMNGS)
Why is it important not to use ILLAI ?

The ILLAI followed by SFCEI is neccesary for the MD to calculate the capacity for the GJU/GJG boards .
The old boards has a 43byte pr signal capacity , and the new ones 90bytes . MD uses mostly long signal for signaling between lims nowdays witch means 90bytes signals .
When a long signal is to be sendt over an old board link with 43byte signalling the signal is cut in two and sendt to times, the assembled back at the receiver end .
It you think about this you will see that the benefit of new cards means smoother and less interlim signalling in the md .

OK people,
I can see in the system that packet length is reduced (43 bytes), and I understand that it is better to have new GJUL boards.
On the other hand Ericsson says that old GJUL boards are 100% OK in BC11.
But I still do not understand why ILLAI command should not be used. Is ILLAI command from LIM dispo reason for often answers "command lost " when I do something in LIM2?

Check the HIMDP for interlim signal lost errors , and mismatching sequences . If you have such fault your GJUL boards may have flaws . Iv'e experienced a lot of problems with the old GJUL boards that has blue componets ( not sure of the Rof numbers on them )

Soaplover,
What do you think about this?

I would recommend you to try another "old" board in Lim2 ,this kind of errors lead to alot of retransmissions , and occationally problem with dumping .
It can even lead to buffer overflow locally in the Lim2 GJUL board ,witch lead to local restart.
Try to replace the lim2 board an chech HIMDP after.
//Soaplover

Try installing SP12. There are some problems with interlim signalling solved there relating to this problem.
Also reinitiate the PCM links with GJLII. After that do ILLAI.

When having problems block 1 link for interlim signalling (ILBLI).

Thanks, soaplover, mdman, trident100

SP12 is already installed

Hi Soaplover,

Your advice was the right one. I changed several "old" GJUL4 boards and finally found the winning combination..
How strange, the same boards which make problems in BC11 are working OK in BC7......
Everybody else - mdman, trident100, nansi, ysgoh...thanks for your efforts.

TheCurious

Hi Curious !
Good that you got the problem resolved .
As for the signalling usage in bc7 compaired to bc11
there is much more long signals and more signalling in bc11
,so even if GJU/GJG cards works okay in Bc7 there is no guaranty that they will work smooth in Bc11 .
I suspect they can have flaws that is not critical in Bc7
but same flaws get critical in bc10/11 due to increased
signalling and long signals.
( seemes that we have prooved that point in this post).

Regards Soaplover

Hi all,
There ?s a same problem bc12 sp6 2lim system.
