I have Outlook 2000 installed on an XP box retrieving mail from a POP server. The 'New Mail' icon used to appear in my system tray, but now it doesn't show. Why? Is there a recent patch that has broken this feature? Or is this an XP problem?
kippy: There's no option to change whether the little envelope icon appears or not--there's only options to show a msg box on the screen or to hear a noise.
Sorry bout that,
Can u try this:
Right click the system tray and click properties. Then click
the customize button next to "Hide inactive icons." See if the new mail
notification is set to always hide.

Thanks both of you. I'm not exactly sure which solution fixed it, but I did a detect & repair, but did not see the icon. When I reviewed the properties of the System Tray, the 'New mail notification' icon was set to 'hide'
Cool beans!
Great, kippy!
(I had major doubts that your suggestion about the systray would work. I most humbly apologize! Obviously, we need you around! A star from me as well!)
