I am running SCO Unix Openserver 5.0X and using Digi C/Con connections for the terminals and printers. Everything works fine accept the printers won't print anymore than one job and then quits. It won't recognize the setup settings on the printer nor the Software printer settings. I am very frustrated because these printers were used before in a Linux system and worked just fine but I don't have access to that system to see if there was something special I should have in the script file

I am using Xon/Xoff DTR as settings and it is consistant in Digi, Sco and Okidata printer. What I don't know about is Auto LF, etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Once it hangs, try something from root like "cat /etc/default/tar > /dev/portaddress. Will possibly prove that you have a problem in the spooler system.

Printer settings belong to the printer unless something comes down the pike to change them.

What model are you using? Have you tried standard?

actually I have tried standard but finally used Unknown. I got them to work today with the help of support from the software company. It was their software that was causing the problem.

Thank you so much for your reply

I am aware of the print head overheating on long print jobs on Okidata 320 printers. Does anyone know about how long one can expect to print before this becomes a problem?

Would have been better as a separate thread, but:

Has been a while since I've seen the slowdown, but with 80 col print I think I saw it somewhere between 2 & 2 1/2 minutes. Just accepted it as a fact of life and let it print at reduced speed till the job was done.
If I recall correctly, the 520 that replaced it wasn't afflicted.
