okay i had a problem with importing a .txt file into excel as it was 150,000+ lines (this .txt file is exported from a in-house software that i'm using to export to excel and no there are no other ways to export) (oh also the file opens automatically in excel but cant load completely, the .txt file is automatically saved in a temp folder, thats the one that i'm trying to import to access). i tried to import to Access but i get errors. i fixed most of them by bringing in most of the dates as "text" instead of Date/time as they would error that way. I am still having trouble with a date and time field that is in this format (12/05/2006 10:36) it will not import correctly and is listed in the errors. help anyone????

oh and forgot to mention i'm pulling it into access to remove some duplicate data that is not needed so i can then export that substantially smaller file back to excel to do some data mining. and yes i have to export from our inhouse software with all the duplicates because its either all or none, they are canned reports and can't have any script added to or removed. sucks. but thats how it is!

never mind i figured it out, i just imported that field as text with Yes (duplicates ok) selected and it came in fine, thanks anyway everyone.
