okay i had a problem with importing a .txt file into excel as it was 150,000+ lines. i tried to import to Access but i get errors. i fixed most of them by bringing in most of the dates as "text" instead of Date/time as they would error that way. I am still having trouble with a date and time field that is in this format (12/05/2006 10:36) it will not import correctly and is listed in the errors. help anyone????

First, this is an Access question. If you post it in one of the six or so Access forums, you'll get more responses.
Access can only import two types of text files, delimited and fixed-width. Your original date/time messes things up obviously. You have a space between the date and time. So, as I guess you did, place "'s around it and bring it in as text - "12/05/2006 10:36". Then in Access change the data type of the field to Date/Time. I just did it and it converted to date/time format.

thanks, i figured it out, i imported that field as text with yes (duplicates ok) and it imports fine, thanks for the help.
