Our server was backup quite happily but one day it just started emailing that the backup was failing.

After lots of hunting around I came across the solution that the OFO was failing (looking at the log - that seems obvious, but I'm not completely versed in BackupExec) and a reinstall of the OFO would fix it. So, we've done that. Ran the Wizard again too... but its still failing.

Is it because things are being backup which shouldnt be!?

I know I'm missing something but can anyone point me in the right direction. Heres the log:

There is nothing wrong with OFO here. Its not even initializing -there is nothing in the log that says OFO has started. The only failure that is failing this job is the line Directory not found. Can not backup directory \invh and its subdirectories.
Edit the selection list and switch to text view and remove this entry for INVH. As far as the other items being skipped that is normal since OFO is not be selected in the job setup or installed.

Yup! You were right. Invh was missing, I've removed that and hopefully no more errors.

Unfortunatly, OFO is selected in the Job and it is installed.

How can I check if it is firing up? Can't see anything in any of the logs...

Well, I took out the invh folder like you said and the backup worked.

But I'm still worried about the OFO. How come that wasn't working??

Have you look for the presence of otman5.sys on the system.
Is it loading in the system drivers?

Its there.

Its in the Winnt\System32\drivers folder.

How can I check if its being used?!

Depening on your version of windows

start - run - winmsd - Software environment - drivers or system drivers.
Should see it in the list if not re-install it
