im trying to offset/nudge a layer using a depth map so some parts of the layer are shifted more than others. i can make the depth map into a selection using channels but thats where im stuck, any ideas?

cheers

I'm just a liittle confused as to what you're trying to accomplish. Do you mean after making a selection of your map (maybe everything closest), you wish to only nudge this?

Where I'm confused is what do you expect to have filling the empty space where you nudged from?

I hope I understand your question.

thanks for the reply

well ive sort-of solved my earlier problem. i turned my channel into a layer, then dropped brighness and did it again and so on... this gave me all the selections i needed (looked like a contour map).

unfortunately as pointed out nudge isnt suited for the job, ive been trying out various ways of using the smudge tool but nothing has worked well enough yet...
