Hi,

I have a large network drive (server 1) synchronized nightly with slave server 2 (both w2k) in the same network. The slave computer is not accessable to any user so nobody touches the offline data at all, and everything appears to be fine. With exception to a few files the bulk of the data is synchronized nicely without errors.

BUT if a user moves or deletes a folder on server 1 then it reappears the next day! Help!

well when it syncronizes and sees that those files or folders are missing, wouldnt it re create the files so that both computers are syncronized with eachother?
how are you synchronizing? whats the program or tool?
if slave server 2 is just for a backup of server 1, I would write a script to copy over all files that have changed since the last backup or if computer resources arent that needy during the synchronozation then i would copy everything from server 1 to slave server 2

I have now given up on the idea of midnight synchronisation with Offlines-Files - the users are frustrated with their folders being moved back all the next day - I guess the intention behind Offline-Files is for an individual to sychronise without too much trampling his/her data on different parts of the server.

Still, I have picked up a few backup scripts and will run them instead - they appear to be intelligent and I will report which one worked best.

Thanks anyway - brett
