I'm going to assume this question has already been answered, but I will ask anyway.

My company uses a norstar system and we mainly use Office 2000 for emails, but also use it to view our faxed and voice mails from the norstar system. My problem is that Office XP doesn't seem to want to download the voice mails or faxes from the system. Is there a patch or a trick I need to know in order to fix this problem. I've tried on a system running Windows XP and 2k.

Thanx in advance.

As there are several different ways this might be approached, can you describe the kind of Norstar equipment you have and how you are trying to use it in the application you describe?

Well, the Norstar unit we are using is a Norstar-Plus Modular-ICS unit, and the voice mail software is version 4.0.04A. The system version claims to be "30mkF01 NAT" (whatever that means). I unfortunately don't know a whole lot about the unit. The current setup is that a person can receive their voice mails and faxes in Outlook from the Norstar system. The problem is that I can easily get this setup to work with Outlook 2000, but I cannot get this to work with Office XP. In the mail setting of the users machine I add a "Nortel Messaging" server type. From that point on, the installed Nortel VM software prompts for a "Line" & "Password." With this, Outlook 2000 treats the voice mails and faxes like special emails and places them in the Inbox. Outlook XP doesn't even seem to download them.

I have seen XP take over Networks. We advise our customers NOT to buy or use XP Machines. Maybe in 5 years.

I'd like to hear more about what you said about XP taking over networks CGComm. darnold@americaii.com

IT'S NOT TRUE, A COMPUTER CAN'T "TAKE OVER".

I know there was a patch for windows 2K, but did not think it was compatable with windows XP?

I use the 2k patch on all my 2k machines, but even then, only Office 2k works. Office XP on a 2k machine doesn't work and neither does Office XP on an XP machine (obviously). I tried last week and couldn't even get it to work with Office 2k on an XP machine. So in final if XP is ANYWHERE in the equation, I cannot get my voice mails in Outlook.
