Office XP prof lost documents on upgrade ?

I have just upgraded to office XP proffesional ? was it a wise move ?

all my old documents were happily sitting in c:\mydoc etc

now when i try to find them they are not were one thinks, XP seems to have archived them into zip files and dotted them in another directory. is this something that i have inadvertantly done during the upgrade?

Installation files don't generally move other items, and this did not happen to me when I installed Office XP.

If you double-click My Computer, then double-click C:\, then double-click My Documents, are you telling me the files aren't there?

Thanks for the reply, but tyhe answer is yes they were not where they should be after some hunting i found 3 zip files named files 1#2#3 that had been archived ?

very strange as i cannot remember asking for an archive of previous documentation.
