When I start word (happens in XP and 2003), why is there two winword.exe showing in the task manager… One is the “normal” winword and the other shows as a template. The template item, over a few seconds will suddenly go not responding which cascades and causes the normal winword to not respond and sometimes outlook.
What is causing the not responding state to occur? Corrupt template (normal.dot)?

Computer info:

P4 2.66
1 gig ram
Win XP professional
Office 2003
SQL 2000 personal

Thanks,

Check if any templates (*.dot) are in the Word startup folder.
Also, rename normal.dot, to check if nothing gets loaded in there, you can put it back later.

Marc,

I did as you suggested, nothing located in the word start up folder and renamed the normal.dot. Still occurs when I start any wizard/template. Curious, very Curious.

Any other thoughts?
