Running it on Win2k professional.
sometimes when you click on a application icon, (word, excel, outlook, etc) - it's as if windows doesnt' know the MS Office is installed, and the "attempting to install" box comes up. If you log off and log back on, the problem goes away temporarily, but sooner or later it will start on this "attempting to install" routine again, and will not recognize that is indeed installed.
With IE, it works for a while, and then you can't get to any websites - "not found" error keeps coming up. - with this however, it will seem to allow you to get to a home page, but will then go to "not found" error if it is a secure page or if you need to log in.
Again - these problems go away on a re-login or a clean boot, but seem to come back after a length of a few hours/minutes.
I'm suspecting registry damage? Here's what I've tried so far to no avail:
1. repairing the installation of XP from the setup disk
2. completely reinstalling office XP
3. reinstalling IE6 overtop of itself using the latest download from microsoft.com
what the heck else is there other than FDISK and re-installing the entire OS - which I don't really wanna do?
I am a nobody, and nobody is perfect; therefore, I am perfect.
