Office Word 2003

When opening a Word document, (eg; extreme.doc) it returns Word open with a gray screen and no document contents. It shows as if it is a new document that has not been saved yet.

Can someone tell me why?????

One more thing i wand to add is that the only way i can open a word document is by opening the Word application first. Again i cannot open any Word document by doble clicking on the document itself. When it opens, the document is completely blank as if it is a new document, except that the screen is gray.

Sounds like someone minimized the window inside the Word frame. In Word, go to Window, New Window. That should fix it.
