I previously had a MS OFfice Premium on My pc. I tried to uninstall it but then it asked for the cd and I did not have it handy. Even though the uninstall did no complete, none of the office programs (Word, Excel..) will funstion, and in my add/remove program list, Office is not listed. If I try to re-install, it kicks me out after I enter the serial key, no message, just back to desktop. If I try to install office xp, as soon as it asks for the serial key, a message pops up and says install has completed, even thoug nothing happened. I think there are still registry entries that make my pc thing office is still there.

Is ther any way to clean office out of the registry?

thanks, Jake

Depending on your version of office , the lastest office allows you to load on one machine with your serial number
and you need your number to remove otherwise you can not transfer to another machine. The problem is that the serial number is still embedded probably in the registry
and the machine the programs thinks it is loaded

Have you tried to uninstall the program with the disk and complete the uninstall?

If you you have another computer that doesn't have office try installing your program if it takes, uninstall then you must decide to clean out your registry or reformat your harddrive (least desirable choice) however you should call Microsoft help
regarding this issue

As to the registry problems you be surprised that you could have easily 100s of errors on your machine
the following programs allow you to fix them
for 30 day trial
Registry Mechanic
Registry Tuneup
Registry Healer
The way you tried to remove your program before you may have call Microsoft because they can can issue a new
number , when my PC crashed on me were I needed to reformat my hard drive the were able to help reinstall
Be careful for what you wish for ? You could do this manually but you need to know what you are doing
I would also run a virus scan and spyware scan also for good measure I run spybot , spywareblaster, spyhunter, and HijackThis, and Norton Utilities
