I have an Office patch issued to me by Microsoft that I would like to distribute with SMS. When I try Distribute Software Updates, I can only choose the updates that the scanner feels I need. Is there a good way to distribute an .msp file with SMS that I'm missing?

Thanks!

I never use the scanner. Probably complicates my life, but to me it seems easier. What I do when needing to push any patch/file is create a package then a program underneath the package. Point the package at the .msp then use the Distribute Software wizard to push the package.

I'm not familiar with .msp files. Is this a type of executable? If so, the above should work. If not, you may need to generate a script through SMS Installer to copy the .msp to the appropriate place. Then use the above method to push the installer package.

Hope this helps.

The scanner gets whatever patches the sync gets. Is your sync running often enough to synchronize with the Microsoft Catalog? Is there a lot of patches that are not showing up? Is your Management Point having any problems?
