Hi Guys,

I wonder whether you can help!

I'm using Office Outlook as my default emailer but I have noticed that I can not have access to my both hotmail accounts! Is that normal or am I missing some setting somewhere???
I have created correctly 3 accounts of which one of my local ISP and the other two are hotmail accounts.
I can only load the email from one of the hotmails each time!!
Any ideas of how to deal with this problem will be appreciated.
Thanks for your time. PaulAlexander.

Paul,

I also have two Hotmail accounts and while Outlook 2002 implies that you can have more than one Hotmail account, it doesn't work

I got around the problem by defining two mail profiles.

Profile 1 points to Hotmail 1 and ISP POP3 1 and saves mail into xxxx.pst

Profile 2 points to Hotmail 2, ISP POP3 2 and saves mail into the same xxxx.pst.

Bit of a pain but it works.

Hi,

It sounds an interesting idea the 2 profiles approach!
Would you like to elaborate on the profiles method?
How do you set POP3 1 & POP3 2 accounts?
I would like to try this method and perhaps other people would be interested too.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you. PaulAlexander

Paul,

It's the only approach that works !!.

1) Open Mail in the Control Panel, click on profiles and Add, giving it a name that makes sense. Make sure that "Prompt for Profile" is ticked.

2) Setup profile 1 to point to POP3 1 and Hotmail 1 and verify that it works. Now exit Outlook.

3) Since I wanted to share my PST across multiple computers, I renamed and moved it into another directory and setup a Briefcase. You can repoint Outlook by opening Mail in the Control Panel, clicking on the profile, then properties and Data Files. It will complain, but allow you to browse for the PST.

4) Now set up the second profile with POP3 2 and Hotmail 2. Point the PST to the first one.

Now, the POP's will deliver to ONE PST and you can drag from the Hotmail accounts into the PST inbox.

Two quirks !!. Mail sent via Hotmail will appear in both Sent Items and Rules will not allow you to automaticaly move items from the HM inbox to the PST inbox.

Have fun,

Ian

Hi mapleleaf,

Sorry for being late in answering but I was away for some time.

Thank you for your informative post regarding mail profiles. I will certainly follow your guidelines and let you posted as soon as I finish setting the profiles.
Thanks again. PaulAlexander.

Hotmail Popper is a small application that allows you to check your Hotmail account e-mail from a normal POP mail client

Right now, you occupy a point where three lines reach across the expanse of time and space and intersect only there, and that you and only you possess.
