Ive installed MS Office on an XP SP2 box as the local admin. When I log in as any user, the installation process loops infinitely and the programs will not run. I made sure to activate it while still logged in as the local admin. Am I missing a registry edit?

I would uninstall completely, reboot, and reinstall. Is it from a CD or network location? A packet may have dropped corrupting the installation.

Are your users local administrators on the computers? Can you make them one temporarily, see if it works, and then remove them (if they are not normally) and see what happens?

Just some troubleshooting ideas. Hope they help.

Ive done a complete uninstall and reinstall 3 times now. App is from legit cd with legit oem key. I added the user to Power Users group with no luck. I'll try the Administrator group in a few minutes.

after you install as adminstrator, and reboot, does it try to reinstall for you, or does it work?

Look at the error msg in the eventviewer. You probably have a component that is missing and Office will try and repair it.
What version of Office is it? For older versions you can try and use the MSICUU, MSI Clean Up utility.

He says xp sp2 for the version. that is a good idea on the event viewer and missing component.
