Office 97 Lock-ups in Windows 2000 Pro

After upgrading my systems to Windows 2K,(full format and reinstall of all software), the machines with Office 97 will work fine for a while, but then exel or word will lock-up when the user tries to open it. Sometimes a reboot helps, sometimes not. Outlook 2000 also has infrequent lock-ups and freezes when the users try to open their mail. I've tried installing the Office service packs but they've never seemed to help and instead have caused new problems. I was wondering if anyone knew of any tweaks or workarounds to stabilize Office 97 in W2k?

I am having similar problems. My computer doesn't completely lock up, but it can take up to 5 minutes to load the document in excel and word. I will inform you if I find anything out.
