Office 2010 Setup Error

I have searched the Tek-Tips forums but didn't find anything. Windows XP Pro machine. I uninstalled Office 2007 Pro and tried installing Office 2010 Standard. I have been successful on about 50 machines so far. On this one it gets about all the way through the install and when it gets to almost 100% the progress bar goes backwards. It then says "Microsoft Office Standard 2010 has encountered a problem during setup.". It says nothing else. I have tried a few fixes from Google searches, but no luck. Any ideas?

While this may sound weird, try reinstalling Office 2007, if it complete successfully, uninstall it, and then install Office 2010 again.

I reinstalled 2007 and it was successful. I then tried to upgrade to 2010 and it failed?!?!?

Did you do an upgrade from 2007 or an uninstall of 2007 and then install of 2010?

I have tried both ways, upgrade and a clean install.

Ok, extreme measure... uninstall any you have installed.
Search registry for "Office"
Delete all references.
Reinstall 2010. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest wipe the OS, and start from scratch.

I finally got it!! After much searching Google I tried the below fix. It is repairing a damaged WMI Repository.
