I installed Office 2007 on Thursday taking the delete previous version option.

However, whenever I load Outlook and sometimes when messages are downloading the Windows Installer box comes up for a few seconds with the message Preparing to install. The box quickly disappears and the program continues as normal. I have tried leaving the installation disc in the drive in case the program is looking for something but this makes no difference. I have also run a Regisrty Scan to make sure there are no left over remnants of Office 2000 but again no difference.

Any ideas please?

Hi MagicCotage,

I've lived exactly the same issue with Office 2007. I don't know if there is an easier version but I've solved this issue by uninstalling/re-installing Office 2007.

Best Regards,
Ali

This is the second post with the same issue. I suspect that the problem lies with MSinstall. Check on the Microsoft for the latest edition. Rename our current version MSinstall.old and install the new one.

I just came back to see if there was a response to my inquiry regarding the last two versions of Office, and picked this page on Installer up on the way.

If Installer does not function properly, especially after a repair, you will be asked repeatedly to insert the original disk for various programs. Replacing the installer will fix the problem. It is a good file to keep in your emergency tool kit.
