Hello,

XP SP2, Office 2k7 updated here.

Any of you guys know how to change the default 'segoe UI' font to something else? People are calling this a hideous font yet no definitive solution to changing it.

I've been in Outlook > tools > options > other tab > advanced options > font > changed this to something else but it doesn't change the UI menus, left navi pane, etc. I know how to change the preview pane and message fonts but not the UI.

Thanks in advance!

Segoe UI font? Go to the Font Dialog, select a new (sensible font) and press DEFAULT. Remmeber to answer YES to save changes to the global template when closing WOrd.

Outlook no longer uses WOrd as its email editor, so you need to go into Outlook, Tools, Options, Mail FOrmat and click on Stationery and Font to make the changes.

Hi tf1,

That seems to change the font for the normal.dot template. Good info.

How about changing the UI font for Outlook 2007? I know how to change the message fonts. How about the fonts for the mail and inbox panes/containers?

thanks!

Tools, Options, Other, Advanced.

Oops! Misunderstood the question. Try View, Current View, Customise Current View..., Other Settings.

Awesome! That does change the font for the inbox pane. It doesn't change the Mail/Mail folders pane all the way on the left BUT the inbox pane is where we read most so most important.

Thanks tf1

The Mail/Mail folder I presume is the Navigation Pane? If so, I am pretty sure that it is a setting taken from the Windows display setting. I'll check with my colleagues on that, but unless you are absolutely confident with changing those settings, I'd recommend living with it as getting a settingwrong can make all the Windows dialogs unreadable too. <g>

Hi everyone - great info!
My question is if there is a way to change the color of the font used in the email pane.

When you have the preview pane set to the right side, the middle pane lists all of your emails, but the second line of each email in that pane (first line is who the email is from and the second being the subject) is displayed in such a LIGHT gray color that you can barely read it if your eyesight isn't perfect. Is there a way to change the color of the subject line to a darker and easier to read color?? I've looked everywhere and cannot find any setting for this.

Any/all help would be appreciated!!
Thanks!

Unfortunately, you cannot change the colour of the font: however, you can change the font and make it BOLD.

Use View, Current View, Customise Current View and click on Other Settings. Click on Row Font button and apply the BOLD formatting (and change the font if you wish to try something that may be more readable for your eyes).

Although this doesn't change the colour, there is a huge improvement in readability in making the rows BOLD.

If you are also using the AutoPreview feature (where the first coule of lines of the email are displaid, you can change both the font and colour by clicking on FONT under the Autopreview section of the same dialog as above.
