Hi all,

I've been reading some recent threads about controlling SOURCE CODE. My org is interested in some software that controls ALL KINDS of electronic documentation (files), such as HTML, Word, Excel, XML, TXT, etc. I used some software at a previous employer but it was proprietary (developed in-house). We'd want features like routing for review/approval, subscribing to documents, SMTP services, etc.

Anyone have any good idea?

Thanks.

You're looking for document workflow software, not a source code control system.

Unless someone else can recommend something specific, I would say that Google is your friend.

I know that sharepoint has some of those features. Xerox also makes something simlar.

Are you looking for a PDM? (Project Data Manager)

Such as where you "Check" files "In & Out" maintaining original copies as Revisions?

We use eMatrix One... It can seem a little complex at first, but is exremely simple once you get the hang of it...

You can customize it anyway you like...

You can use a language that comes with it called MQL (similar to SQL) along with VB to automate ANY task in Matrix...
(I built an entire front end with VB)

It may be a little price if you have a limited budget...

Here is a link if you want to look into it:
It may also be an OVERKILL for what you are looking for...
Be sure to shop around before you decide!!!
