I have signed up with BT and Freeserve for their surftime package (£5 a month for off peak internet access with no call charges). Is anyone else suffering the painfully slow service that this provides...thats when you can actually log on without being told the lines are busy....and being unable to access your E-mails half the time because the POP 3 server wont respond???....Trying to upload a web on this service is just a joke, the server wont reply 80% of the time.

Sorry for going on but i have to get it off my chest or I will commit suicide...I certainly am not going to contact Freeserve again on their '50p per min HELPLINE'

BT surftime with Freeserve is a rip Off...Steer clear is my advice.

£5 ??
Isn't it more like £8-99 ?

A fiver to BT and 4-99 to FS...
What with that and the 2hr. cutoff (neither of which were mentioned by BT during the signup) I terminated my Surftime a/c the same day as I received my 'order number'.

What a con.

Come on people... for £5 a month what sort of service do you expect? Free internet access is really still a new concept to BT (free local calls is beyond them!)

Look at it BT's way. Why should people paying so little, tieing up the lines, be allowed to do so. "No fair! We want more profit, not less!"

Be happy we get free access at all! Maybe, 4 to 5 years down the line we'll get a better service, until then just sit tight and enjoy the fallacy of free calls... Ahdkaw
"What would you expect from a bunch of monkeys?"

Yes! I'm having exactly the same problem. It takes me about twenty attempts to actually connect to the service, sometimes it won't even connect, I end up putting a 0845 number in. Is there an alternative number because the one i'm using is a joke. And really don't wanna phone up the number cos its rip off. What exactly is the cost of the service?? £5.99? £6.99? or £8.99??

from the sound of it I shouldn`t bother signing up, what do you think...

When i first signed up the deal was £5.00 per month for the service. They have stopped that now and freeserve charge you £3.00 pm on top of BT's £5.00pm. I am still on the old deal though.
