hey all,
I have a linux box running Advanced server with an FTP site setup on it. When you access the site just over the network (using network neighborhood) you can access all the files create new folders and files etc...
But when you ftp in from out of the office and upload a file/folder it shows as if its uploading to completion but when you refresh or when someone in the network looks for that file the file/folder is not there. anyone have any ideas?

Make sure your firewall at the office has all the ftp ports open... Ports 20 and 21.

yea it does- all of our other ftp servers work fine.

I would do a search for the uploaded file. Are you ftp'ing internally to the server or just mapping a drive through samba?

so run the following:

1.
# updatedb
2.
# locate <file>

The ftp default directory may be different from the samba shared directory. Also, check what directory you are in when you FTP from outside.
