i would like to have photoshop 7.0. i see it advertised at some places for as low as 60 bucks. guess i am wondering what the catch is. i realize that there is no manual with it, but certainly that can't reduce a 600 buck package that much. before i throw 60 dollars away, somebody enlighten me. last time somebody told me that had a good travel deal for me, i signed. and ended up in vietnam.
ty.

I have Photoshop 7 ... if i copy it and give it to you free of charge, will it illegal ?

is that what they do? hell, i am gullible. like i said, 4 years in the marines is proof of that.

for an extra $50 you could get Photoshop CS(8)!
... I mean $650, not $110.

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.

If something looks too good to be true, then it is. If you feel comfortable giving YOUR credit card info to lying, thieving, fraudulent, law-breaking SPAMMERS, then you deserve the identity theft that will ensue after you receive your bootleg, illegal, pirated Photoshop disk.. but hey, do what you want, and it may not be too late to re-up! :)

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

I think, Occas, it is probably a pirated copy. Or maybe the LE(Limited Edition - IE:it's limited in functionality) version (although I think there is only a version 5 LE).

As I said Photoshop CS retails @ $649.00, you can get v7 for $100.00 or so less. You can also get a second -hand version as long as they transfer all the rights, software, CDs, serials etc.
Try Amazon or some other reputable site, you may get a cheaper second hand version.

I bought a pirated copy of PS 7 a couple of years ago (actually thought I was buying a legal version at the time) and the only problem I had with it was that it wouldn't work if the system date was greater than Jan 1, 2002. I eventually found a patch for this and it works fine. The guy I bought it from can't be found, though...

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!

i was asking in good faith what the deal is with that sort of stuff. nothing more, nothing less. i have no intention of buying anything like that now. i hope you weren't making that assumption.
thanks for the input to all.

so, did you buy the official version after that lesson or are you still using your pirated copy?

lots of 800 pound gorillas on the internet. i try to say things online that i would say to one's face. pal.

occas, nope no assumption, just being straightforward with my reply. But really, I would be real careful about giving my CC info andpersonal info to a comapny that is obviously breaking the law in many respects, first they are selling pirated software, second you most likely heard about this deal from spam mail which is illegal initself in the USA as of this year unless they are following several restrictions which, if they are selling illegal software I can assure they are not, and with identity theft being one of the newest internet crimes and fastest growing trend, well you be the judge. Just offereing friendly advice, hate to see people try to save a few bucks and end up getting hurt in the end...

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

i appreciate your advice. yes, i received a junk mail with that stuff in it. but seems to me i saw something similar at amazon. oem, whatever that stands for.

first of all, i wouldn't show my ignorance by asking the question if i knew. my mind doesn't work like thinking of pirated stuff. now it makes sense to me. i'm the kind of guy that needs manuals and some kind of assurance that i can get help if there is a problem anyway.

if i were going to buy something like that(pirated), i would say so anyway. guess everybody can be honest beyond reproach as easy as 800 pound gorillas. i could be lying and can't prove otherwise. so i will just thank you for the advice personally and let it go at that.

I doubt that you saw it at Amazon at that price, maybe eBay, I run into that a lot... Photoshop has not been released as an OEM (original equipment manufacture, usually refers to software sold with only a disk and serial number, as in windows XP when sold with hardware, and cannot legally be sold wiithout the hardware package, ie bundled with a new computer) product since vs 4, If I recall correctly.

I can say without reservation that there has never been an OEM release of versions 5, 6, 7, or CS.

Tell-tale things to look for are that they come with a serial number but cannot be registered, or that in versions prior to CS that they come without a manual... these are all proof that the thing is a scam.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
