7.6.2 MSSql: I have looked in every table I can think of but it appears as if the order line item comments are deleted once an order is posted. Is this true? If so is there a setting to stop it? We use these lines for lengthy product descriptions which we would like to retain for reference.

Once posted, they go to history, just like oeordhdr & oeordlin. Check oecmthist for the records you used to find in oelincmt. We've been trying to get these records out of oelincomt (active order file) for years. It's getting better, but PLEASE don't ask them to leave them in the file for you. Those of us w/integrated shipping systems will grow grayer by the day. Just redirect your report parameters, if you would.

I agree with MacolaHelp.

If your product descriptions don't change for the item, why not load them into Item Notes and then you can copy them onto new orders if you're not doing that already.

Update:

If referencing history comments by the original order number, the appropriate field in the OECMTHST table is called real_ord_no

Yep - that's the tricky part about getting to the OECMTHST table, that real_ord_no field. I have a number of reports (invoice reprints etc.) that reflect order comments for posted orders, and all the info. is there. You'll need a left outer join, or a subreport as not every order will always have comments.
