OE6 is installed as part of IE6. I have it installed on a Windows XP pro system. It has been working fine, but today I got a message "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close" I have tried shutting down and re-starting my computer to no avail. Norton cannot find any problems and virus checking is up to date.

Can anybody tell me how to get it running again please?

Snail,

You may want to check that your permissions are set correctly.

You will need to find all of your *.dbx files to do this. (Click start then search ). Baring that you may need to have the files recreated. This will delete all currently downloaded e-mail, so only do it as a last resort. But to do so, once again find all of your *.dbx files, right click on them and rename them to <something>.old , the next time you start Outlook express it will recreate these files, and might resolve your problem.

Hope this helps...

If not, there are a few other solutions!!

Cheers

Thanks!

It was the "Folders.dbx" giving the trouble. Once renamed it started fine.

Cheers.
