OE Disconnects when opened

I subscribe to NTL and can log on with no issues, I can use IE with no issues and web mail etc. But as soon as I open Outlook Express I get disconnected from the internet. I do not even have time to click on the syncronise all. I simply double click on Outlook express and when it fills the screen I get disconnected...any ideas.

Open Outlook Express and click on Tools and Options and the Connection tab.
uncheck "Hang Up After sending and receiving".
Click OK and restart Outlook Express

Does this aply even when it is disconnectinf before I start not when I am finished sending anything..??

Try unchecking it and connect to your dialup connnection to see if the problem persists.

I tried this last night but with no success. I can log onto the internet via dialup and stay online as long as required. Then when I opedn OE the connection is dropped immeaditily. OR I can open OE and the dialup box comes up, I dial andget online but will be dropped after a few seconds.

Open Dial up Networking and see how many connectoids are listed. From your description of OE's behavior, it sounds like it may be associated with a different connectoid than IE.

At the weekend a friend has managed to fix the issue. From contacting NTL tech support I had three dial up connection boxes on my desktop. OE was setup to use a different connection to connect than IE, so when I had IE open and then opened OE it dropped the connection and tried to use a new dial u box to open a new (very slightly different)connection.

In OE under tools/accounts there is a tick box to allow it to use specific dialup connections.
