I am having a serious problem with my internet explorer it seams that the back button does not work at all.

My system:
p4 processor
256mb ram
windows xp operating system
Norton anti-virus
Zone alarm firewall

If any more information is needed please ask. I know a good bit about pc's so you don't have to baby me. I set up a new account and the problem only occures inside my exesting account. Could this be a bug or some type of virus that norton is not picking up.

Can you access the little down arrow between the back and forward buttons?

Does this affect multiple websites?

There was a known issue with IE 6.0 and certain types of Java and Javascript code on websites that used muliple frames. Using the back button would often cause a "page cannot be displayed" error message.

However, SP1 for IE 6 should have resolved that. So if you've tried multiple sites (even simple ones like doing a search on yahoo.com) and still have a problem, then it definitely sounds like a component of IE 6 is either corrupted or been hijacked by some kind of spyware, adware, or virus.

After repairing IE and rebooting, go to this site for more suggestions:
