I am having a problem with HP deskjets

The situation is we have just gone over to an all windows 2000 network and ip only ports.

The printers worked fine when they were connected to the ipx network but all of a sudden they were setup and working, then they started dropping off one by one.

This only seems to be effecting the deskjets.

We can see the printer from a server point of view, we can ping the ip address and setup the printer completely. Yet when we try and print to it, the document appears to go to the printer and then disappears, without printing anything.

We have reset the jetboxes, updated the firmware and are using the latest drivers.

Any suggestions or ideas are very welcome before i go bald.

Thanks.

if you have resolved the issue - will you post it here for me to see too? I am having the exact same problem and have not been able to resolve....... thank you and hope you are having a nice day

Yes we found a resolution.

We had the print services running on the domain controller. Once we setup another print server away from the domain controller it helped a great deal. There were 2 problems, the 1st is the domain controller was running out of vrtual memory and causing print jobs to stop and jam. The second is the drivers for the deskjet, we went through numerous drivers individually till we found one that worked.

Also service pack 3 actually makes printing problems worse in some cases but we have the print server running with it on and it seems ok at the moment.

Also enabled web administration which is usefull.
