Odd name resolution problem

I have an NT4 Server on the end of a 56k WAN line whose name will not resovle. This is a mixed mode domain using DNS and WINS (we also have Active Directory but are only using it for Exchange, we don’t do anything else with it as far as I know).
Now for the weird parts:

- The server can ping any server in the company by name and all of our computers appear in its network neighborhood.

- I cannot ping the server by name (but can by I.P.) and the server does not appear in my network neighborhood.

- I can ping, by name, 98 and 2k computers that are in the same location as the server, these computers are a mix of both hard coded I.P. addresses and DHCP clients of the server.

- The server can synchronize the domain but Domain Monitor (dommon.exe) reports it as being off-line.

- The server has a listing in our WINS server.

Anyone have any thoughts?
