Hi there

I am very new to sql server, so please help.

I've got a database, which can be accessed via ODBC. But all the connection I had seen in the past with ODBC is always getting data from other db into Access db using the odbc data source.

My question is, rather than using access db to store the linked tables (for example) from the other db, can SQL Server database be used and if it is possible, could you please help on how to do that?

Your help is highly appreciated.

What will you be using to connect to the sql server db? A vb program, etc.?

Hi ArtieChoke

Thanks for replying.

I'll be using SQL Enterprise Manager

:)

Enterprise Manager will work directly with any SQL Server db. You don't need to set up a DSN. Is that what you want to know?

Thanks Artie

Sorry, I was not explaining myself clearly.

I've got this database, unix based, which can be accessed via odbc.

I need to do reporting on it, and the only way is, to use odbc and look at the data somewhere else outside the db (for example using sql db).

My way of accessing the SQL Server db, is Enterprise Manager.

How do I do that?

Cheers
Atia
