I work through an ODBC from AS400 to MS Access.

In my AS400 system I have a table called "ABCCUST" which is in a library called "ABCLIB". Now I want to approach a "sub"table (copy of "ABCCUST") in "ABCCUST" which is called "ABTCUST".

In AS400 query I know how to do this by choosing "ABTCUST" in the menu under "Name of section".

But how can I reach this table through ODBC?

regards,

RJ

I use ms access 97. However, have extensive linking of MS Access to AS/400 DB.

In general, to reach table (as400 file):

1. Create DSN - I use CA odbc driver. in dsn, set up the library(s) you wish to access (can be more than one). Must be a machine or system level dsn. not user; not file dsn.

2. Open MS Access, design mode.

3.in Tables Tab, select new table.

4. select link table. should open to Link window.

5. find "Files of Type:" in Link window

6. select ODBC file, open, and should open to select data source form.

7. find the machine dsn and open.

8. select your table. If the table ABTCUST does not have a key in physical, then select the appropriate key field.

follow remaining prompts until your done.....
