After I create an SQL Sever system DSN using ODBC, I get 'invalid DSN'with ConfigTranslator failed. What is causing this error?

After creating the system DSN with a 'successful datasource connectivity', I am trying to go back and view configuration information on the newly created DSN. I can view the new system DSN, but when I click to see configuration properties, this is when the error pops up. The messages says something to the effect of the new DSN does not exist. When I click okay then it tells be about 'ConfigTranslator failed'. I also noticed that there is no information in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\ODBC.ini. I am not sure if this is a bug, corrupted ODBC dll or corrupted SQL dll.
