Hello,
I am running SQL Sever 7.0 and have always been on the same domain when connecting to it. However, now I need to connect to it from another domain across a Linux Firewall. Our network admin has set up the firewall, so that I can ping the SQL Server from the client machine, but I can't simply set up ODBC in the normal fashion- it doesn't find the server. I can't find any help on the forums regarding this either:( Has anyone done/tried this?

Thanks,
Meg

Are you using the IP number to set up the server? Has the network adminstrator opened the SQL Server listen on port (default is 1433) in the firewall? Terry

Well, as it turns out, the firewall isn't even acting as a firewall yet and I shouldn't have to worry about that, so I'm trying to set up and LMHOST and I can do it from the server to the client but not vice-versa, which is what I need... It's a win2000 PRO client, btw. I can go from my win2000 machine on the same domain, but not from the other... Am I now on the wrong forum or does anyone know? Thanks tlbroadbent!!

M:)

P.S. I tried the IP number, but the network admin suggested using LMHOST
